I really don't have the words to describe my full experience curating and then playing this set for Denman Dance Temple. I can say that I went in feeling tired, a bit nervous and having some imposter syndrome. But... I got out of my head, dropped into my heart and I trusted my experience and intuition. I know I can't please everyone but the feedback was very good and tears were shed.
I am thankful to Erin O'Brien and Riane DaSilva for curating this event, rentals and promotion and for holding space....The Denman Dance Temple Team! Thankful to bones and builders of the building and the lodge that we danced in. Thankful for the land and our Ancestors. Thankful for all who showed up to Dance and Be in the experience. There were people there from 4 different islands! I had a friend show up that I have known for over 25 years and who was there with me in my very early days of DJ'ing. We shared some sweet moments. What she shared afterwards really had me reflect on all that has happened in the past 25 years. We had oracle cards there and I had one literally fall out of the deck as we were setting up: "Metamorphosis is naturally destructive" - I couldn't believe this because when I was very very unwell I had this card up on my windowsill for about a year, maybe more. So seeing ti again having come through that experience had me in awe. "Pleasure Is Power" also came up and I smiled because one of the tracks in the set is called "Pleasure" I covered the bass bin with some purple velvet and I put the card there. I suggested that people bring their cards and place them there if they wanted something to be amplified or boosted. Erin and Riane had cute little pieces of paper and I suggested they could bring those there too and Erin suggested to put them in the fire! Yes, there was a wood-stove! At the end I read some of the cards out ... after a minute of chimes and silence. ~~~ Here are the bits and pieces that showed up before the event and the words that I had written as well that I shared before the event... First, I thought of my friend's poetry book "shaping pearls". I knew she written during a particularly challenging time in her life and I knew I'd find something there. With her permission I was able to share it: *tender beginnings by Caroline Miskenack blush is the air of morning. Tender are its hands that lift your eyes to see the gravity of innocence pulling you toward acceptance so that you may remember your inherent goodness. so that you may begin, again. ~~~ Then, these words came out of me and I posted it to Facebook and IG to help promote the event: Exceptional leaders don't impart just vision, rather they cultivate the emergence of vision. ~Sudha Murty I wouldn't call myself an exceptional leader but I do like curating, cultivating and co-creating spaces and events where we can come to-gather and share our visions, our voice, our energy. In community we find the courage to show up, we listen, we activate, we grow, we co-create and hopefully we begin shifting paradigms. We change narratives, we stand for things. We speak for those who can't, we dance for freedom. Today is a new day to emerge. Denman Dance Temple: Super Charged Spring Emergence ~~~ And then I wrote this while sitting in the car whilst on the Denman Ferry ... reflecting on emergence—not just in nature, but within ourselves. What does the theme "Emergence" mean to me? When I imagine the word emergence I think of a seed being planted in fertile soil. I see and feel the rain. And soon a little sprout emerges. The sun shares its love, heat and energy to call the little sprout upward. Invitation: Today, I wonder who has been cultivating and preparing the soil? Who is planting seeds? And who has already been emerging, growing, blossoming? Whose Soul may simply be in a liminal space? ~~~ Let's dance each other home... starting with ourselves. If you like what you hear, I'd love a heart and / or share. Comments on the Soundcloud upload really help to get the music out there too. Thank you. I had Soul much fun. I was quite nervous tbh! I feel like I have a much better idea now of how to curate these ecstatic dance sets "better" going forward now. I am LOVING mixing in some very new styles for me!
I chose this theme for many reasons. I have learned to become so aware of my thoughts. I observe and ask, are these my own thoughts? If I hear myself ruminating, I ask what is so important about this, that it requires repeating? Am I truly listening? If I start talking in circles or for too long, I wonder if maybe I'm nervous (and why) or wonder if I just don't feel heard. So, rather than re-acting and try answering with my thinking brain, I do my best to drop into my Heart Soul space and let my thoughts land there. I ask, "What would my heart say /do?" I am ALWAYS surprised at how this information, this deep knowing, is very different than from what I would have ever created with my rational thinking brain. Always. So the same applies when I am Dj'ing and dancing in intentional spaces. Am I performing? Am I connected heart to heart? Soul to Soul? Does my body actually want to move this way? I drop in, I commune with my infinite Soul Wisdom and what becomes, becomes. It quite often brings me so much peace and joy... Or an opportunity for deeper retrospection / introspection and integration. I invite you to ask: "What would my heart do?" "What does my Soul long for?" Listen to - Heart & Soul @ Comox Dance Temple - DJ sprouT by DJ sprouT on Soundcloud https://on.soundcloud.com/yhfADRFF2A1PVcPw5 ~~~~ There are no pictures or videos allowed at Dance Temple but I can say with all my heart that the love was palpable. I am not sure how many people were there but I am pretty sure I saw about 70ish smiling, sweaty faces! All ages. The youngest being under a year! Thank you Dance Temple Comox Valley Aaron Handford for inviting me and Mark Play-Full Events for setting up your gear, and being my lead / space holder for the day! What a sweet community. I was so honoured to have been a guest today! Thank you Joanna Finch sharing your sound healing skills. You're a sweetheart. Today I dedicated my set to my Mom Georgina Lewis to our beloved little Ivan #ivanthecuddler who left his body this past September. He's the reason I decided to become a Dance Temple Tender and I have met so many wicked peeps because of it. Thanks to the DT team and volunteers and my wicked hubbub Tony Hasenkrug supporting with holding space, setup and teardown. Seeing my besties out there sending me the good vibes is everything. Next up, Denman Dance Temple: Super Charged Spring Emergence March 15th! Already curating that set! It's always interesting how different vibes and little bits of inspiration come to me at the most random times. Like I get glimpses into the future. See you / feel you in the Dance xo Tammra

Hi friends! This is a LIVE House Mix I played this past weekend at Ace Brewing and it was one of many. It's called Fierce & Fragile.
This one is special because these are tracks I've never recorded before. Please keep in mind, this was a casual event where people are talking to me - but I love these songs. So not performing really, mingling and dj'ing... Saving my 2024 tracks for my upcoming events - stay tuned! Much Love ALL WAYS ~ sprouT
I've created the Playlist on Spotify too...
I am SO stoked to have had the opportunity to close out the night at the Waverley Hotel in Cumberland, BC.
I absolutely adore this community. Since I first lived in the Comox Valley (2009-2010), and went to shows at the "Wave", and other events (that I had the honor of being a part of) such as The Big Time Out, the Big Day Up and many more... I have found the people (promoters and dancers alike) to always be super supportive and not a lot of "donkeys' lol, really truly though, my kind of peeps for sure. They are really all about the music! Now that I live here again, it was awesome to see Vig, from Cumlerland Village Works, still at it! It's been great to reconnect with him. I believe that I did meet Ben back in 2009 but I can't remember how... well, anyways, he now has a company called Mt. Eliah (aka Long Shot Events) and one of his latest, big projects, is the Pachena Bay Festival. Him and Vig are responsible for many of the great shows that come to the Waverley. Being a newbie, here (again) in the Comox Valley, it's important that I get myself immersed into the community and thankfully, Ben & Vig started up an event that supports up and coming djs, as well as provides an opportunity for those of us that are new to the area called OPEN DECKS. My hubby caught a few snippets of my set and I've posted it to my Video page I will be adding a second video - of all of the djs from that night and their info. They were all amazing people and I definitely made some new, very good, friends. Plus, met some lovely peeps who stayed until the end for the love of music! I'm so grateful. ᙭O ᔕᑭᖇOᑌT

Hi Groovers!
Soooo... I've been wanting to complete Pt. 2 of my "Music Is The Answer". These are songs I've wanted to put together since Dec. 2018 -- so my next mix will be tracks from 2019 - but I didn't want these to go unheard... I've decided that I am going back to the way I've always mixed - starting with about 115 BPM- and then journeying through to about 125bpm (likely in 2 parts like this one) - and will be including nu-disco, indie dance, all kind of house and breaks. Yay! I am also enjoying so many different kinds of music and hope to make more mixes for intuitive dance, world music and more. Stay tuned. For mixes right to email inbox with download links >> Subscribe HERE THANK YOU FOR ALL THE LOVE & SUPPORT XOXO ~ sprouT

Today was the Women's March around the world. Some women / people have the freedom and privilege and health to march, some don't. Thank you to everyone who keeps fighting and praying for my right to be a female dj (and to feel safe- which hasn't always been the case) - this is for all youz.
This was my first time recording on the new DDJ SX2 controller - I have played and recorded my mixes on turntables (since the late 90's) - but I couldn't link this crazy new machine to my controller vinyls w/o a certain added pak- so here you go--- my first time recording on this cd controller, even though I have hardly played / practised on it. This was my first take and didn't edit anything. I found it to be a lot of fun. I journey through Deep / Tech and Electro House, Breaks & Glitch Hop I simply want to share the music. I always want to dance. XOXOXO ~ TAMMRA aka sprouT ![]()

Mixed for: ELECTRIC LOVE FESTIVAL - The Forgiveness Dance - Conscious Dance & Deep Dives Playshop with Tammra Broughton aka dj sprouT @ The Zen Den
Often times facing someone we are upset with seems impossible and we tend to avoid the situation. Unfortunately, anger, fear, sadness, guilt or shame can get buried deep into the subconscious mind and without us knowing it consciously, it can weigh us down. What if you could not only liberate yourself but also liberate the other person through a forgiveness dance? What if you could safely explore saying what you want to say and letting it go and forgiving yourself and them at the same time? Imagine how much lighter your life could be dancing forward? The Forgiveness Dance is a place where you can dance your pain and sweat your prayers... and support healing for all generations.
She moves.

Hi dance lovers... Here are all the tracks I chose for my set at The Radio Stage Bass Coast 2012 http://basscoast.ca ... My recorder didn't end up recording my set (which is too bad because I dropped some funny vocals and also had a beautiful singer with me). So as a treat for those who have asked, I thought I would put together a mix with all of the tracks I picked and it turned into a 4 hour mix!
This musical journey starts out with Moombahton (House Raggaeton Fusion) into Indie / Nu disco... Plenty of Electro House with sprinkles of House, Techno and Tech House ... ending off, as usual, with a last bite of Dubstep. You can here me "scatting" on this first track... I have a dream of being a lounge singer in a smoky setting in downtown new york someday lol I heart Elle F. - the Queen of the Scat!
